Raypoz is an anagram for the Zaporozhian (Ukranian) Cossack leader Bogdan Khmelnitsky. During Ukraine's mid 17th independence struggle against Poland, he massacred many Jews and members of the Polish nobility. From 1654-1667 Russia allied with Ukraine and fought a war against Poland. Gnezdovo is a city in western Russia near Smolensk. On August 12, 1654 Russia and Poland fought the battle of Skhlow,near Gnezdovo. This battle occurred on the same day as a total solar eclipse whose maximum was in Ukraine.
